Here's a book that lives up to its title: "Luscious Lemon Desserts." Simply put, Lori Longbotham has created a gem of a cookbook that glories in the sweet possibilities of that sour fruit. The only problem I encountered was in choosing which recipes not to test. If I were melodramatic, I would make some reference to "Sophie's Choice." But I'm not, so I won't.

Luscious Lemon Desserts by Lori Longbotham happily lives up to its title. The author knows her lemons and how to make them shine in one of the best single-subject cookbooks of the year. The recipes are well written and presented and explore the sweet art of tart desserts well beyond your mother's lemon bars.

One of the Top 10 Cookbooks of 2001.

Just as we were ready to swear off single-subject cookbooks as over-mined territory with increasingly banal trivia, along comes a stylish, sprightly work that not only is tied to a single subject but also limits itself to a small slice of that pie. Longbotham has a keen sense of style. Of equal importance, as a native Californian who now lives in New York City, she knows how to match that style to recipes that celebrate freshness and lack pretension.

Luscious Lemon Desserts gives lemon lovers what they have been looking for in this first-ever cookbook dedicated exclusively to lemon desserts. Recipes range from simple to complex and include suggestions for advance preparation and serving. This book is a pleasure to read and use. Highly recommended.

A sure contender for next year's cookbook awards.

This is not a "Desserts 101" book or a cookbook to read while curled up in an armchair. This is a book destined to get squirted with lemon juice, dusted with flour and sprinkled with sugar.

No lemon is left unturned! The desserts range from easy to challenging, but all are designed for the home cook with a yen for the sleek elegance and satisfying "zing" provided by this bright yellow fruit. The colorful photographs make you want to grab some lemons and start cooking! Longbotham, a food writer with years of good experience, makes sure her readers won't fail.
